DVD Recommendation: Tales from the Crypt Season 3

We recently got our bloody little hands on Tales From the Crypt Season 3 on DVD. I'm sure most people are already familiar with the popular wise cracking narrator of the series, the CryptKeeper and the ghoulishly delightful tales he dished out each week on HBO more than a decade ago. Now the series has found its way to DVD and has proven it still has teeth. The third season had some of the best episodes of the entire run of the series including two of my favorites, Abra Cadaver and Mournin' Mess. The series was really in its prime at this time in its run and the episodes look fantastic on DVD.

The DVD comes with special features including two panel discussions with some of the shows creators as well as the "so schlocky its great" video for Crypt Jam a rap song by none other than the Crypt Keeper himself. The song and the video have not aged well at all. The video looks like the cast of "In Living Color" somehow wandered into the cryptkeepers pad and decided to film a dance number. Not a shining moment in the CryptKeepers career. The worst part is that this was followed up a couple years later wtih "Have yourself a scary little Christmas" a album of "Campy" takes on Christmas carols that was fun at first but didn't wear to well. Plus I imagine that not many people found they hated hearing the crypt keeper singing about rotting bodies around the Christmas Tree while they were opening up presents. Maybe I was the only one who bought that CD?

Okay that aside go pick up this DVD set and you won't be dissapointed. This series was great and its finally getting the DVD treatment that it deserves!
