This was our favorite maze at Universal StudiosHollywood this Halloween, thanks to its wonderful evocation of supernatural horror, which is perfectlysuited to the season in a way that the more grotesque and gory attractions are not. This is a hauntedhouse walk-through that feels like a haunted house.</p><p class=MsoNormal>Trick or Treat. This is a holdover from last year's Knotts Scary Farm, but itdeserves a place on this list thanks to its fairy tale approach to Halloween, providing a walk into ahouse haunted by a wicked green witch � seen flying on her broom at the conclusion!</p><p class=MsoNormal>Black Magic. This new maze at Knotts Scary Farm blew us away with its periodsetting: the 1930s � a time of spiritualism, seances, and magic, culminating in a scene with a magicianlevitating overhead.</p><p class=MsoNormal></p><p class=MsoNormal>The Winner: Reign of Terror</p><p class=MsoNormal></p><p class=MsoNormal>There is simply so much packed into The Reign of Terror Haunted House inThousand Oaks that this lengthy walk-through that it feels like multiple attractions all on its own:everything from a Victorian Mansion to a Bloody Bayou to an Insane Asylum to a Cursed Mine to aQuarantine area (the latter new for this year). The sets and sound effects create a convincingatmosphere, and the combination of mechanical effects and live actors provide enough scares tosatisfy any Halloween haunt fan.</p>
