Bordered by Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, and Illinois; Kentucky was an important state during the Civil War so the gory battles begun. The Union and Confederates set up camps and built Forts all around the borders states waiting for the right opportunity to strategically fight for position to take Kentucky in some of the bloodiest violent battles.
