Oregon, the 33rd state is nicknamed the “Beaver State”. This nickname originated in the mid-19th century when the trading of fur pelts became quite lucrative. The route the traders followed was called the “Oregon Trail”. Beaver pelts were made into beautiful and stylish hats and coats. The nature of the beaver pelt is the resistance of water. The Native Americans welcomed the traders into the area for it increased their opportunity of trading. Unfortunately, the European traders brought diseases which devastated the tribes. The territory ownership of the Oregon Territory was in question for years as both the British and the United States laid their own claim. These boundary disputes continued for years until a final peace treaty was reached called the Oregon Treaty. Two years later Oregon became a state. The Civil War removed the soldiers who kept the peace within Oregon State. This took the troops to Virginia to the heart of most gruesome hand to hand combat. While the troops were all the way across the country, the Native Americans were being forced to move onto reservations. For years of the settlers encroaching on their land, the tension of competing for food and water had taken its toll on the Native Americans and fighting began. They called this the “Snake War”. The Natives were at war with miners, the settlers, and anyone who continued to cross their land. The greed of the pioneers and miners created more and more tension. Up and down the Snake River blood stained the water with these fights for your life massacres. Death hung in the air and for four years, there was no peace. Many died untimely deaths. The Snake War was not one particular battle but the many skirmishes and many deaths that occurred up and down the Snake River. This was not a notorious war but is said to be the bloodiest and most loss to the Native American tribes on the west coast. Unfortunately, the Civil War in the east overshadowed the loss of life in the west. When the Civil War ended many of the solders returned from the horror of war to the evil that lived back in the state. These men returned after years of fighting changed by what they saw. They had changed forever. The men who did not return from the Civil War, who died an untimely death, still search to complete their mission. Oregon is well known in the haunt world for the many souls who are lost between life and death, stuck in purgatory to eternally serve the under-lords every evil deed. The intense energy they expel helps the living keep them at bay for the remainder of the year. Unfortunately, they must return and do the bidding as part of their mission in purgatory. Souls have converged on the many haunted houses, slaughterhouses, fields, haunted mazes, haunted hayrides, mines, ghost towns, paranormal activity, attractions and more. Attracted by Halloween, they have converged in the portals that are opened during Halloween. Find the most scary monsters, creepy zombies, demented demons, crazed clowns, creatures from the depths of the under-world, cutting edge technology, innovative animatronics, and bring your nightmares to life right here in Oregon. When searching for haunted houses online, the haunt world knows that Oregon is a state with a horrific past.
